CITY OF DALLAS
Digital Transformation & Engagement for SaveDallasWater.com
Objective
The City of Dallas needed a modernized approach to water conservation outreach. Their existing system relied on printed forms, outdated workflows, and minimal digital engagement. My goal was to streamline operations, enhance user experience, and increase community engagement through a complete website overhaul, workflow automation, and dynamic social media campaigns featuring Dew Drop, the Dallas Water Department’s mascot.
To achieve this, I focused on:
Automating work order requests by enabling online form submissions that emailed and queued tasks for city staff, eliminating manual processing.
Revamping the website backend to ensure real-time updates for events, conservation initiatives, and partnerships with programs like Water is Awesome (Fort Worth Water Department).
Creating engaging social media content to boost community awareness and participation, including viral videos starring Dew Drop.
Improving UX/UI design for a seamless, accessible experience across devices.
Process
Workflow Automation: Designed and implemented an online submission system for work orders, reducing paperwork and improving response times.
Website Redesign & Management: Updated the CMS to keep conservation programs, rebate information, and events current and easily accessible.
Social Media Strategy & Content Creation: Managed social channels, developed engaging educational content, and produced viral videos featuring Dew Drop to increase public awareness.
Regional Collaboration: Kept messaging aligned with neighboring water conservation programs to amplify impact.
Outcome
The transformation resulted in:
A more efficient digital workflow that improved city operations and response times.
Increased public engagement with higher social media interactions and participation in conservation programs.
Viral success through creative, mascot-driven content that resonated with the community.
By modernizing SaveDallasWater.com and expanding its digital presence, I helped the City of Dallas shift to an interactive, digital-first approach that enhanced both public engagement and internal efficiency.
